Dr. Tom Nagel is a Reconstructive Microsurgeon. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology from St. Olaf College. He completed his medical degree at the University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Nagel completed a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. He then completed a fellowship in Microvascular Reconstruction, Head and Neck Oncology, and Transoral Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
Prior to joining Plastic Surgery Associates, Dr. Nagel was a faculty member at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. He was an integral part of their Microsurgery Program and developed a Robotics Surgery Program, performing his first robot-assisted surgery in 2017. He has traveled internationally to help develop Robotic Surgery programs.
Dr. Nagel contributes unique skills to the Microvascular Practice of Plastic Surgery Associates. He continues to advance the use of robotic surgery in the fields of Oncology and Reconstruction and is helping to build a robotics program for breast reconstruction.
